Halloween Cookies

This year had been really busy for me when it has come to making treats. We started off with making some Halloween cookies for my visiting teaching girls, and then we made Sugar Cookies so that Lilly could decorate them and also for a few other people, and then came the traditional Halloween cupcakes that we have been making for the last 4 years! (of course I forgot to get a picture of them!) Needless to say I was pretty tired of baking and decorating by the time we were all done!

I have been making my own frosting for all of my various projects this year. Anytime I get out the mixer Lilly has to get up on the counter and help. She will just stand there behind you and say "I Help!" She has also discovered that good things come from the beater! I can barely finishing mixing anything before she is asking for a bite!
Here she is frosting her first sugar cookie. She tried to hard to get the frosting just right and then she would put the sprinkles on one at a time! Her cookies were packed but she loved them! Enjoying the fruits of her labor! She thought they were the best!

Pumpkin Carving

This year I really wanted Lilly to have fun carving a pumpkin, so we decided that for FHE we would get small pumpkins and carve those all together. They were the perfect size for Lilly and she had a great time!

She spend a lot of time taking the top on and off! She was so proud whenever she could get it to fit just right again
She loved cleaning it out all by herself. She didn't want any help from Aaron or I

Here we are in the middle of carving the pumpkin
Our little family of pumpkins. Aaron and I had already gotten big pumpkins so we carved those later.

Tutu Mania!

I decided that for Christmas I would make these no-sew tutus. They are super easy and soo cute! Here is the one that I made for Lilly (I of course had to make sure it fit!) She loved it and would just dance around. Then she decided that she wanted to try it on as a hat. I didn't get a picture, but she would put it on her head an walk around. Aaron and I were laughing hysterically. Anyway, that has been my recent project and I have 4 of them made. Now all I have left is to put some flowers and jewels on them!

29 Weeks and Counting

Well here we are at week 29! I can hardly believe how much bigger I am than I ever was with Lilly! The pregnancy has gone well so far and Molly is as active as ever. Now I just have to get here to stop kicking me in the ribs and we will be good to go!

Curly Hair

I decided to try and curl all of Lilly's hair. I wasn't sure if she would cooperate with me doing it, but after turning on the water in the sink and letting her play in it the whole time, she let me spend quite a bit of time on her hair! I think it turned out great! What do you think?

I tried curling it on two different days. This one is from Monday, She let me spend a little more time than normal on it.
This is for church on Sunday. I thought it turned out great. Thanks for the idea Candace!

Spongebob

A pretty funny thing happened last night. It was around 7:00 pm and Lilly hadn't watched tv all day. She asked if she could watch something. Aaron saw that a Spongebob Squarepants was on and so he turned to that channel just to see which Spongebob it was. He was about to change the channel when Lilly said "No, I watchin Spongebob now." I just started laughing. I couldn't believe that phrase came out of her mouth! Oh how they grow so fast!

Big Sister in Training

Lilly loves to play with her cousins. Even though they argue over toys sometimes, they still have a great time together. Lilly is especially enjoying Grant right now. As the smallest of the "group" she loves to hold him and tell him how cute he is. She also enjoys kissing him and rubbing his head. It has been really great in the fact that it gives me the opportunity to explain that mommy will be bringing home a baby in just a few more months, and Lilly is learning the meaning of being soft. Thanks for playing with us Claire, Owen, and Grant. We love spending time with you!

Welcome Fall?!?

We woke up this morning to a wonderful (or to some, a not so wonderful) sight.....SNOW! We knew a storm was coming in but I really didn't believe that we would get this much. It is still snowing outside just a little. I am sure that this won't be staying around long though, because as the week moves on it is going to get warmer again. I guess we had better enjoy it while it lasts!

This is our house. Lilly woke up this morning and was so excited to see the snow.

Big Girl Bed!

With baby #2 on the way we decided it was time to put Lilly in a big girl bed! Aaron's parents had an extra bed frame and so we bought a ma tress and assembled her bed. I was pretty much scared out of my mind and thought I wouldn't be getting any sleep for like the next month. And of course I had the standard visions of her falling out of bed and breaking a bone, you know, stuff like that! (Give me a break - I'm pregnant and emotional!) Anyway, We got the bed put together and her room rearranged. The bed ended up being kind of tall so Lilly can't get in the bed by herself. That of course makes her think that she can't get out of bed! That night we put her to bed and after about 20 minutes she fell asleep. She slept all night and stayed in bed. I was pretty much in shock and even woke up at 4 am to check on her. My guess is that she thinks it is kind of like her crib and she can't get in and out of it! I am just fine with that! After two nights she is doing great and we couldn't be happier.

Aaron and Lilly putting the bed together. The whole time we were putting it together Lilly was chanting "big girl bed!" over and over again.
The finished product. It turned out great and Lilly seems to really like it!

Apple Picking

This last weekend we spent time in Mink Creek with Aaron's parents at the cabin. It was a lot of fun. We had even more fun picking apples out of the orchard. Lilly had a great time after she got over the fact that she face planted it in the mud! She would take the apples and put them in the box or, more often then not, she would just stand there and eat the apples! We had a great time.

Inspecting the apple, just in case!
I guess it looked OK!

Fall is in the air

Fall is on it's way (finally!) The leaves are changing and in our case falling all over the yard. It has been fun to be outside playing in the leaves. Lilly likes it a lot more this year. She will pick up handfuls of leaves and say "Hooray" while throwing them in the air.

Lilly

I pulled out the camera the other day and thought that I would snap some pictures of Lilly. She was more than willing! It is kind of funny because anytime the camera comes out she immediately says "cheese" and sits on the floor! She has grown up so much lately.

Project

I found this dresser at DI and thought it would be perfect for Lilly's room so the baby could have the other dresser. I didn't get a before picture, but let's just say it was pretty bad. When I started stripping the dresser I found out that there was at least 4 layers of paint to get through. So, stripping, sanding (3 different ways), painting, and new hardware later, here is the finished result. I think it turned out pretty great!

Canning

Well, I don't know how I have done it, but I got Aaron to help me with the canning this year! It was nice to have someone helping out with it, and I think he learned a lot. So far we have done peaches and pears. This week my sister April and I will do Applesauce and Apple Pie Filling. It should be fun!
