Molly

Molly is doing a lot of new things now. She can now climb up our 2 steps in our house - which means I can't keep her contained anymore! She is now talking a lot. She says hi all the time and she has even begun saying baby - for the baby dolls and nothing else! She is just growing up in front of our eyes! We love you miss Molly!

Field Trip to the Fire Station

Today Lilly's preschool went on a field trip to the fire station. The kids were so enthralled in the entire process. The firemen talked to the kids about fire safety and different tips like stop, drop and roll. Then one of the firemen put on all of his gear for the kids. Lilly thought it was pretty cool. Then we all went outside and saw the fire truck up close. They talked for a few minutes about the truck and then they let the kids climb inside to see what it is like. Afterwards they gave the kids fun little hats. Lilly said it was a great field trip and that she had a super fun time!

Daddy-Daughter Date and Aftermath. . .

This morning I took Lilly and Molly out on a daddy-daughter date. Heather was in Rexburg for the day with her parents and sisters Amber and April to watch Amber audition for a music scholarship to BYU-Idaho. So, it was Dad and the girls today. . . I took them to McKee's to see the puppies, kittens, and petting zoo, we went and played at the playground in the mall, went to McDonald's for lunch and had more fun playing at the playplace there, and then to WinCo to pick some things up for dinner. On our way home, I noticed it was getting quieter and quieter, and within 5 minutes of leaving the grocery store, this is the scene that played out in the backseat:

I love my girls to pieces!! They may be full of drama sometimes, but there is something wonderful and memorable about just sitting back and admiring two precious sleeping little ones. . . These are the times that I just love being a father, and these little moments make all the arguing, backtalking, crying, tantrums and craziness worth it!!

Funny Lilly

Lilly: My ear hurts. There's something in it.

Me: Your ear hurts....well what's in it. (thinking, oh no! she better have not put anything in it!)

Lilly: I don't know, something like a wet floor sign!

*Laughing ensued*

Yum!

For a special dessert for Valentine's day I decided to make chocolate covered strawberries. Well in my true fashion, I may have gone a little over board! I thought they turned out great, and the girls thought they tasted even better. Lilly loved the entire berry, but Molly only liked the chocolate and left behind the whole strawberry. Oh well, one day I know she'll like them! Happy Valentines Day!

Pre-Valentine Dinner

Aaron and I were getting ready to go out on a date so we decided to get the girls pizza for dinner. Lilly was so stoked about getting pizza, but she was even happier about the heart shaped pizza. She thought that was the greatest thing in the whole world!

look what Aaron brought home for me for Valentine's day. I thought they were so gorgeous! The girls had the best time smelling them and Lilly even gave the proper ohh's and ahh's over them.

Valentine's Party

Today was Lilly's preschool Valentine's party. She was so excited and worked so hard on her valentine's for her class. She was so excited that we were making special chocolate covered Oreo suckers. I was a little late getting to her party but when I got there things were in full swing. They made these cute little candy necklaces, hunted for hearts, frosted sugar cookies and opened their valentines. It is so fun to see how much fun they all have just doing these simple things!

Molly really wanted to help with the sugar cookies! Actually she just wanted to eat one!

An Unexpected Trip

Last Wednesday Aaron and I got a call from his parents telling us all about this article that is being written up in the Santa Barbara News Press. The photographer had asked them to collect as many scouts as possible to get some photos for the paper. So his parents called and offered to fly us down for the weekend to Santa Barbara! It was pure craziness from there! We hopped a plane on Saturday, and after a somewhat bumpy ride we landed in LA at about 11:00 am. We got our rental car and headed out to my sister-in-laws house. We were tired after such a long week, but so excited to see everyone! It was like a mini family reunion, everyone was together except for a few nephews and nieces who were either at school or on missions. We had a great time with everyone and we were so happy that we could all get together on such short notice.

On Sunday we were able to attend the Santa Barbara Ward. It is always a fun and interesting experience there. We then went home and watched the super bowl, I slept on the couch while everybody else watched it. I did see the end though! We were really tired by this time so we just laid low and relaxed with Aaron's parents. On Monday we headed out early to get our teeth cleaned by Aaron's dad and to spend a little time around town. One of my favorite things to do is to just walk around and explore. We had lunch with Aaron's high school friend Stephanie and then we headed out of town back to LA. The girls were so good the entire trip, I have to say I was thoroughly impressed. Our plane was delayed for a while so we sat in the airport and fought with our increasingly grumpy children. Luckily the flight back to Salt Lake wasn't very full so we were able to spread out and let Molly sleep across some seats. The flight was smooth as could be and the car ride home couldn't have gone any slower. We were just so tired at the end of our trip. We got home at about 12:30 am and put the kids to bed, then we literally fell into bed as well. It was a whirlwind of a trip, but we had a great time visiting with everyone. Thanks mom and dad for getting us down there, we really appreciate it!
