Lilly had some minor surgery today. She had an epothileoma on her face. Basically it is just an overgrowth of cells that attach to a hair follicle. The only way to get rid of them is to take them out. We knew she would be too nervous to do it in the doctors office and we really didn't want her moving because it's on her face and we wanted to minimize scarring. So the best option for us was to have her go to sleep. She was pretty nervous about doing it. But she was also very brave, as long as we didn't leave her side. They were so nice at the surgery center. They brought her a new teddy bear and then they asked her if she was pretty nervous. When she said she was, they brought her a sedative that she could drink down. That way she would be really calm for when they wheeled her away from us. The nurses said it would work really fast, but it didn't. She was pretty agitated for a little bit. But then, all of a sudden, she got super funny. Anytime they would ask her a question, she would just raise both her eyebrows at them and smile. Then they took her into surgery. She did great! She was so happy that she could have a Popsicle after surgery. She was pretty out of it for a while. By the time we could take her home, she was in a super silly stage. She would randomly laugh then stop abruptly. Then when we got home, I helped her to the couch. She got up once and promptly fell over. When I asked her if she was OK, she said, "Yes Mom, my legs are just being super silly!"
Anyway, She was ready to go back to school the next day and she is doing great. We are so happy and feel so blessed to know that she did so great. It is always a little nerve wracking when you have to watch someone else wheel your child away.
She was a little nervous!
